We are resuming our NT Guild meetings for Winter 2025. Our next meeting is on January 20, 2025, at 1:00 pm. We are taking up this year’s Theme: New Testament Scholars Across the World. We are going to invite Dr. Roque do Nascimento Albuquerque (Rector, University for the International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusophony (UNILAB), Ceara – Brazil) to share about NT scholarship, research, and challenges from his context. He has a doctorate in Greek Language from Central Baptist of Minneapolis, Minnesota (2013) – validated as a Doctor in Language Studies from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (2014). His post-doctorate in Translation Studies is from Hamline University, Minnesota (2018). Amongst many of his academic works, Presupposition and [E]motion: The Upgraded Function and the Semantics of the Participle in the New Testament (Peter Lang) is the published monograph of his doctoral dissertation. (for his full CV, check here, and choose English)
This is a good opportunity to learn about NT scholarship worldwide and to connect with Dr. Albuquerque. We expect your active participation in the discussion to help us understand the NT scholar in his own context. We hope that such an invaluable discussion will enrich our research at MDC. I encourage you to engage with your pertinent questions and join the meeting In-Person or via Zoom (link below).

MDC’s New Testament (NT) Guild is a monthly meeting open to all faculty and students studying or interested in New Testament at MDC. The NT Guild gives everyone an opportunity to meet outside our regular curriculum to discuss various topics concerning being a good NT scholar. Topics include: NT studies, theological education, scholarship, job market and job application, professional developments, and many more. For more information contact Ankit Harry or Aaron Jung
