News of the Russian invasion of Ukraine dominates our news cycle, and for good reason. But the history between Ukraine and Russia is not something new, in fact it goes back more than 400 years.

Join Dr. Jim Payton, as he shares the deep historical background and strong religious component behind Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and how we can better understand the devastating situation at hand by going back to the roots of these countries’ relations.

Following Dr. Payton’s presentation, we will open the webinar for questions and discussion. All are welcome, register to attend at the link below.

Dr. Jim Payton is the Professor of Patristics and Historical Theology at McMaster Divinity College. Prior to coming to MDC, he taught for many years at Redeemer University on Eastern European history, including an upper-level course on Ukrainian history. His latest book, The Unknown Europe: How Eastern Europe Got That Way, deals with the broader background of this topic and can be found here.
