CAMA Woodlands Long-term Care Home, owned and operated by the Central District of The Alliance Canada, is seeking a part-time Spiritual Care Minister to support the work of the Director of Spiritual Care by providing spiritual, religious, and emotional support and programming to residents, families, and CAMA Woodlands team members.

Spiritual Care is provided from a Christian perspective and is a vital part of CAMA Woodlands, servicing both staff, residents, and their families, while maintaining space and respect for each residents’ personal spiritual beliefs.
Our Spiritual Care Department works closely with the Therapeutic Department in leading weekly in-house worship services, Bible studies, hymn sings, and prayer support. We welcome family and friends to attend our services and programming and we encourage spiritual community affiliations to join us in providing spiritual care to members of their congregations residing at CAMA Woodlands.
Primary Responsibilities
- Organize and conduct church services for residents that reflect the demographic of aging people with various cognitive impairments
- Developing and delivering weekly Bible studies and hymn sings for residents
- Conducting daily rounds, one-to-one visitations with residents
- Provides direct spiritual care and end-of-life support to residents and their family and friends
- Provide support and care to staff during crisis situations and when needed.
- Officiate funeral services as needed.
Competencies
- A respect for and understanding of the spiritual needs of the aged. Experience with serving those with Parkinson’s, ALS, and Dementia is a definite asset
- A patient and compassionate nature and a warm and personable manner
- Attentiveness to God’s Spirit in being a part of the care team who serves residents, family, and staff in our commitment to the highest quality of compassionate, holistic care
- Flexibility to adaptable to unforeseen changes throughout the day
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, critical thinking and time management skills
- Works in compliance with confidentiality requirements
Qualifications/Education:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in a theological discipline
- Accredited and Ordained with The Alliance Canada (or willing to become accredited) or an ordained clergy member from another theologically aligned denomination.
- Experience working in a hospice/palliative care setting is a strong asset
- Experience in providing grief and bereavement support
- Competent computer skills including the ability to utilize Word, PowerPoint, and Spotify
Other:
- Must be willing to receive any vaccinations that may be mandated by Public Health from time-to-time.
- Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment, such as face masks, when appropriate or required.
- Must have a valid G level driver’s license and access to your own vehicle.
Compensation:
- Part-Time (20 hours/week). Ability to work weekend shifts and to serve on the on-call rotation schedule for evenings/nights is required.
- Compensation: $30-35 per hour, plus health and dental benefits, and three-weeks of vacation.
