Family Ministry – Vision

 

Cheyne Presbyterian Church is a multi-generational church with an emphasis on children,

youth, and their families. The Family Ministry offers programs to develop the spiritual lives of children and youth (e.g. Sunday morning and mid-week programs) as well as the spiritual lives of parents, so that families and parents can be empowered to be the spiritual leaders in their homes.   This ministry brings children, youth and young families together outside of their regular daily lives and provides opportunities for them to play and laugh together and interact with others in the church and our community.  The church staff and volunteer leaders work together as a team to carry out the Family Ministry Vision.

 

 

Associate Pastor – Children’s Ministry

 

This individual will:

·         Work collaboratively with the Family Ministry Team of Session and pastoral staff to ensure that there is alignment in focus and priorities of ministry

·         Set direction and operationalize ministry with church volunteers to provide programming for children and their families (e.g. Sunday morning and mid-week programs)

·         Move new Christians toward growth and discipleship opportunities (e.g. small groups, service opportunities, friendship connections)

·         Build connections with young families and children through relationship-building with parents, the running of a small group, and by providing occasional teaching series on specific topics.

·         Help families build connections in the church to other young families

 

·         This position will initially be a part-time one-year contract position and will be accountable to the Family Ministry Team of Session and the Session itself

 

Associate Pastor – Youth Ministry

 

This individual will:

·         Work collaboratively with the Family Ministry Team and pastoral staff to reach youth from inside the church and outside the church and their families (e.g. High Voltage Junior High, Edge High School mid-week groups)

·         Move new Christians toward growth and discipleship opportunities (e.g. small groups, service opportunities, friendship connections)

·         Build connections with the families of the youth through relationship-building with parents and by providing occasional teaching series on specific topics

·         Be a systems navigator – helping youth build connections in the church by helping to coordinate and connect students to volunteer opportunities in the church and connect to local service outreach opportunities in the community

 

·         This position will initially be a part-time one-year contract position and will be accountable to the Family Ministry Team of Session and the Session itself
