Community Life Pastor

Dundas Baptist Church (DBC) is seeking a compassionate and experienced individual to resource and support the members of Dundas Baptist Church, in cooperation with the Preaching Pastor (part time), as the church seeks to revitalize its ministries.

Qualifications and Experience
Experience in pastoral care.
A degree from a recognized Christian educational institution or equivalent experience in ministry.
Working knowledge of computers and communication technologies. Familiarity with social media platforms would be an asset.
Availability for some office hours (TBD) during the week.
Organizational and communication skills.

Position Scope
The position will start on a 10 hour per week basis with a review every 3 months.
Salary to be determined based on experience.

The Community Life Pastor will work in conjunction with the Preaching Pastor, staff, and the management board to support the following committees with ongoing activities, and guide in prioritization and development of possible new ventures.

Worship and Pastoral Care:
Monitor the needs of congregants who are sick and/or shut in.
Visit congregants who are palliative or experiencing an emergency in cooperation with the members of Worship and Pastoral Care.
Perform funerals in cooperation with the preaching Pastor.
Assist in supporting tech side of worship through helping to find and support volunteers.
Preach on occasion as needed.
Keep office hours at least two of the three mornings the office administrator is present.

Christian Education:
Develop possible special outreach days for children and families with volunteers such as Back to School, Halloween, Christmas, Family Day, Easter, Summertime Fun, etc.
Help to organize kids’ church during the service. May need to plan and lead activities until more volunteers are found.
Meet with volunteers to assess possible next steps for a Youth Ministry.
Work with Preaching Pastor to assess the need for possible new Bible studies.

Mission and Outreach
Connect with Association of Dundas Churches volunteers to support and attend meetings when available.
Assist in developing, promoting, and running, possible Faith for Society series in cooperation with volunteers.
Oversee the development of a new website with a hired student.
Work with volunteers to possibly start monthly service at AMICA retirement home.
Explore ways to reach out to groups who use our church building for possible other child, youth, and adult programming.
