Eucharist Church is seeking a gifted pastor to step into the role of Pastor of Community Formation (Co-Lead) to serve our congregation for 10 months while one of our pastors takes steps away from her work to welcome a baby.
Start date: July 6, 2026
End date: May 30, 2027
Hours: 28 hours/ week
Hourly Rate: $23.50/hr
The successful applicant for this position will work in tandem with the Pastor of Spiritual Formation to oversee the regular rhythms and organizational life of our downtown Hamilton community for the duration of a 10 month maternity leave. We are looking for someone who has both:
- the dependability and skillset to maintain the administrative rhythms of our church, and
- the spiritual maturity and pastoral giftings to shape the spiritual life of Eucharist.
Job Description
- Meet regularly with co-pastor to plan and lead together. Periodically attend Elders meetings.
- Offer pastoral care and contact with congregants, including welcoming new congregants
- Preach (or organize a guest preacher) once monthly
- Co-lead Sunday services, including confession, prayers and communion
- Co-lead Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Easter, Baby Dedications and other special services
- Recruit, onboard and manage volunteers for Sunday mornings, committees and guilds
- Manage congregational communication (e-mails, announcements, Google calendar etc.)
- Oversee Living Rooms (small groups), including slotting participants into groups and equipping Living Room leaders
- Co-supervise part-time staff, including Facilities Coordinator, Pastor of Children’s Discipleship, and Finance Coordinator
- In partnership with elders, liaise with insurance and mortgage holders
Qualifications
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ, seeking to grow consistently and encourage others to do so
- Fully aligned with the mission, values, practices and culture of Eucharist Church, as reflected in our church’s values and the 123’s of Theology (available at eucharistchurch.ca)
- Spiritually mature and theologically astute
- Strong organizational skills for the tasks described above
- Ability to lead worship, preaching, and teaching in tune with the culture of Eucharist Church
- Strong relationality, willing and able to work with co-pastor and congregants
- Demonstrated background in Christian leadership
- Relevant education (MTS, MDiv) and/or work experience an asset
