Role Summary:

The position of Pastor of Youth & Young Adults Discipleship is responsible for the development, oversight and growth of the Jr. High (grades 6-8), High School (grades 9-12) and Young Adult (ages approx. 18-28) ministries at Forestview Church. This role will involve helping Forestview to develop a culture of discipleship through fostering relationships, recruiting and equipping volunteers, pastoral care, leadership development, mentoring, and teaching. Develop and maintain a strong pipeline for integrating youth and young adults into the life of the church in collaboration with the rest of the Pastoral Team.

Forestview Church:

Forestview is a non-denominational congregation of 300+ people located in Oakville, Ontario. While we do have Brethren roots we self-identify as an independent, missional, broadly evangelical church that collaborates with other like-minded congregations across Canada. We are a member of Vision Ministries Canada.

As a church, we are committed to incarnational missional ministry throughout the Halton region.

Position Title: Pastor of Youth & Young Adults Discipleship

Hours: 40 hours per week

Coach: Lead Pastor

Direct Reports: Volunteer ministry leaders

Teams: Pastors Team

Specific Duties

Youth Ministry

Plan, organize and oversee weekly opportunities for Junior High School and High School ministries to facilitate connection and spiritual growth.

Recruit, train and support youth and adult leaders in sufficient numbers to meet the goals of ministries.

Help the volunteers in scheduling and organizing the various worship aspects of the different ministries.

Help to organize and schedule various small group ministries

Give leadership and oversight to Sunday morning Jr. High Ministry.

Help communicate information to parents through emails and social media.

Organize and help run annual Youth Retreat

Maintain and review all aspects of the attendance and follow-up of students through the church database.

Oversee pastoral care related to youth ministry.

Plan, organize and lead mission trip for high school students

Organize and give leadership to Youth and Young Adults missional engagement through service opportunities and potential mission trips

Help process and maintain the proper records for Forestview Plan to Protect (Jr. High/High School/Young Adults)

Young Adults

Develop, plan, and execute vision for Forestview Young Adults.

Lead, equip, and provide pastoral care for Young Adults and Young Adults leaders so that they flourish personally through leadership and service, and so that they steadily grow in leadership capacity.

Lead regular events to build connections amongst young adult community at Forestview

Maintain and strengthen relationships with Youth and Young Adults at Forestview by meeting regularly with them.

Forestview Pastoral Staff

Attend weekly meetings with Forestview Staff.

Attend bi-monthly report and check-in meetings with Lead Pastor

Attend bi-annual Staff and Leadership Retreats.

Other duties as required by Lead Pastor.

Requirements:

We are looking for someone who loves working in a team setting and prioritizes creating a disciple-building culture. They must be adept at developing/mentoring others into spiritual maturity and not afraid to try new things to help those within our community step outside of their comfort zone and grow as disciples. Applicants with a post secondary education, 4 year university degree and theological training are preferred.
