Job Description: Music Ministry Associate
Lorne Park Baptist Church is a congregation in Mississauga, seeking an individual to lead the
in-person and online congregation, in worship each Sunday at our service.
We are looking for someone who is keen to lead the congregation in musical praise, with
demonstrable experience in church music leadership. He or she will work closely with the Pastor and current music ministry team to craft worship gatherings suited to both in-person and online attendees.
The position is for approximately 10 hours per week. If the candidate has a passion and
giftedness for working in youth ministry, the job description and number of paid hours can be expanded.
The Position
The position will include, but not be limited to:
• Co-lead at our regular Sunday morning worship.
• Recruit, coach and encourage volunteers to assist in worship ministry, musically and
vocally.
• Select worship songs and have it typed on PowerPoint
• Rehearse weekly (beyond Sunday morning) with volunteers of varying abilities
Other Duties
• Encourage musical leadership among the youth.
• Available for special services such as Good Friday, Christmas Eve, weddings, funerals,
and other events as agreed upon;
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a follower of Jesus Christ and a self-starter with a heart for the
spiritual growth of the congregation, and will have:
• Vocal and piano skills (guitar skills are an added asset);
• Good working knowledge of traditional and contemporary Christian worship repertoire.
• Good teamwork skills
• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and flexibility
• Good communication and organizational skills
Reporting Structure
The Music Ministry Associate will be accountable directly to the Pastor and executive council.
Regular meetings with the Pastor and key volunteers will be expected. The Music Ministry
Associate contract will be evaluated after the first six months, and then annually.
Salary will be negotiable, commensurate with experience and skill.
