About the Role
We offer programming for kids nursery through grade 8, and have an active ministry. The current need is for our highschool youth, which would include grade 8 students. Reporting to our Lead Pastor, Joel Sherbino, this position would be 20 hours per week and would be integral in creating programming for youth, as well as discipling them and connecting them with one another and our community. Responsibilities include:
Spiritual Growth:
Develop relationships with our existing youth, and engage with them in a way that will lead to informed programming and events
Create a pathway of spiritual growth and leadership for highschool students
Oversee student ministry programming and events
Identify and delivery content to highschool youth
Identify and plan for events that could be accessible to our youth
Volunteer Management:
Recruit, train and coach student ministry volunteers
Foster a culture of connection and relationship building amongst volunteer, students and parents
Create a mentorship culture whereby youth begin to give back and mentor younger youth
Strategic:
In partnership with the Lead Pastor, create a strategy to engage and grow our youth in their relationship with Jesus
This role may evolve to include young adults
Administrative / Organizational:
Calendar planning for the year including some events
Communicate regularly with students, and sometimes parents
What you bring to the Role
We are searching for a committed Christian youth leader who has some experience with leading youth either professionally or within summer roles such as camp. Specifically, we are looking for:
Strong profession of Christian faith
1-2 years experience leading youth in a Christian setting such as youth group, camp counsellor or youth pastor
Communication skills (both written and verbal)
Relationship building
Collaborative
Flexible
Work independently
Community Minded
A positive Vulnerable Police Sector check
