It is with sadness that McMaster Divinity College has learned of the passing of Rev. Dr. David Mainse on Monday, September 25, 2017.
McMaster Divinity College was proud to award Rev. Dr. Mainse the Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa, on May 17, 2011. MDC chose Dr. Mainse as a worthy recipient because of his significant contribution to Christian witness and mission throughout Canada and the world, for his dedication and commitment to the work of the Church, his influence on contemporary society, and his effective communication of the Christian Gospel. We thank God for his life and for his commitment to the work of Christ.
Dr. Stanley E. Porter stated today, “David Mainse was a pioneering leader in communicating the Gospel. I was honoured to be able to get to know David and to witness his love of Jesus and his fervour for the Gospel. I do not expect to see another person used by God in such a way any time soon.”
We offer our condolences to his wife, Norma-Jean, who was a steadfast companion in all that her husband accomplished, as well as to his four children, sixteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
