There has been a lot of time and thought put into how we would put the lights and sprinklers into the Chapel. We wanted to keep the high ceilings but needed to change the lighting and install sprinklers. After all that time wondering what to do, it was decided not to re-invent the wheel but just use scaffolding as it was feared that the floor, built in the 50’s, would not hold the weight of the machine that could take workers up that high and we didn’t want a machine falling into the Archives!. We will soon have beautiful lights that should last at least 20 years—most of us will not be at MDC by that time, but we’ll make sure to make a visit to see if the Chapel is still lighted.
