Biblical Theology Courses in Korean
Korean students represent the largest group of international students within the MDC student body. As part of our mission to educate Christian leaders, we desire to partner with Korean pastors and churches in Canada to serve the Korean church more effectively. Beginning with these courses, we hope to offer even more accessible and meaningful opportunities for Korean students to thrive in theological education.
2025-2026
Courses
As a first step, beginning in the 2025–26 academic year, we plan to offer four biblical studies courses in Korean. If this pilot program proves fruitful and addresses real needs within Korean churches in Canada, we hope to expand Korean-language course offerings across our graduate programs.

Covenant in Old Testament Theology
This course, taught by Dr. Suk-il Ahn, examines the significant texts of the Old Testament related to progressive development of the revelation regarding salvation in the perspective of covenant. We deal with covenant theology of the Old Testament by dividing it into the covenant of creation and redemption, the covenant of Noah, the covenant of Abraham, the covenant of David, and the New Covenant, and then trace how it is connected to Jesus Christ in the New Testament.

The Kingdom of God: The Theology of the Gospels
This course, taught by Dr. Yong Eui Yang, aims to study the theology of the Synoptic Gospels focusing on the theme of the Kingdom of God. This course will cover the topics such as the OT and Jewish backgrounds, the concept of the Kingdom, the present and futurist characters of the Kingdom, the parables of the Kingdom, miracles and the Kingdom, Kingdom and the grace of forgiveness, Kingdom ethics, Kingdom and the church, etc.

Old Testament Historical Books
This course, taught by Dr. Suk-il Ahn, will cover the Old Testament historical books, which include: Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra–Nehemiah, and Esther. Through this course, we will examine the main content and theological messages of these books from a covenantal perspective, with the goal of applying them to ministry.

The Gospel According to Matthew
This course, taught by Dr. Yong Eui Yang, examines Matthew’s Gospel exegetically. It begins with an introduction to the origin, structure, literary characteristics, and major themes of Matthew, and then proceeds to exegetical studies of the text. While the entire Gospel will be covered, some passages will be explored in greater detail, while others will be addressed more generally.
