We are honored to welcome Rev. Dr. C. I. David Joy (Principal and Professor of New Testament, Kerala United Theological Seminary, India; Presbyter of the Church of South India). In this session, Professor David Joy will take up “Postcolonial Criticism,” offering 25 min. presentation on the origin, overview, impact, and application of the methodology. Later, the floor will be open for discussion (Q&A) for 25 min. Dr. David Joy has authored/edited 32 books and published 40-plus academic articles. His books/articles include Mark and Its Subalterns: A Hermeneutical Paradigm for a Postcolonial Context (Equinox, 2008); “Decolonizing the Bible, Church, and Jesus” (2012); and “Decolonizing the New Testament Texts: A Postcolonial Task” (JSNT 2024)

MDC’s New Testament (NT) Guild is a monthly meeting open to all faculty and students studying or interested in New Testament at MDC. The NT Guild gives everyone an opportunity to meet outside our regular curriculum to discuss various topics concerning being a good NT scholar.
