Website Immanuel Baptist Church

OVERVIEW
We are a small, evangelical “family” church in Blind River, a town of 3,600 quietly situated along
the shore of Lake Huron in Northern Ontario between Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie. We are
seeking to grow in grace and understanding so we might learn what it means to live as
Christ-followers in our community for the sake of God’s glory and his kingdom. Gathering each
Sunday and through the week for worship, prayer, study, preaching and then going out to match
our behaviour to our belief.
We are seeking a full-time summer ministry intern for 2026 to help us in our growing efforts to
extend our reach into the community, train our growing youth to develop in discipleship, and to
help equip others for ministry. The right candidate will partner with us to reach these aims and
learn new ways to care for, serve, and to bless – as they are blessed by – our community and
congregation.
More information about us can be found at our website: https://blindriverbaptist.ca

GOALS
1. We desire to develop a fuller ministry to our current families, children and youth. We
will run a one-week summer Day Camp. We plan to have youth leadership training to
mentor and train our young teens to serve effectively in the church and local volunteerism
with a gospel lens. We hope to develop a plan for the Sunday School of Fall / Winter.
2. We desire to connect church and community families. We plan to offer social nights
through the summer, (i.e. BBQ; game nights, etc.) We desire to host a Newcomer
Welcome Meal to allow these community members to experience the love of God.
3. We desire to further develop a student pursuing ministry as a calling. This internship
will provide an opportunity for the student (year 2+ preferred) to further discern their call
and to practically use their training in a small-church context.
4. We plan to continue to minister to our church and community after the programme is
done. Making use of the connections and developments we have made from our efforts.

SPECIFICATIONS
The student should have some experience serving in a church with a willingness to learn further
and take greater responsibility in leadership. The candidate should be one whose character is
confident, humble, faithful, responsible, available and teachable.
The right applicant will be a degree student from a theological school pursuing ministry in a
church context likely in the second or greater year of their programme.
The student must be comfortable fulfilling a variety of roles within the church, serving with people
of different ages and stages of life, demographics of the community, as well as with first nations
and east indian families.
The student who has a working knowledge of French, Cree or Punjabi would be an asset!
The student should have a valid ‘G’ level driving licence.
The student must be willing to live in a billeted situation within households of the host
congregation.
The student will have a recent police record search for the vulnerable sector or its equivalent or
be willing to obtain one.
Based upon the student’s skills, gifting and calling or degree, the student will have an opportunity
to take on an element of their initiative specific to them, and any other training can be provided.

MILESTONES
Impact
The student will have the opportunity to minister, learn and grow in their giftings in a safe and
supervised environment. There will be times of reflection, learning and ministry development
for the student with members of the church leadership, as well as building into a church
congregation even as the congregation gets to know and build into them. The student should
expect a friendly, family-like atmosphere where she/he is free to be themselves as they discover
more of who they are in Christ.
