We are pleased to welcome Dr. J. Gregory Davidson as Affiliate Assistant Professor of Old Testament at McMaster Divinity College. Greg joins our community with a wealth of experience as both a biblical scholar and a pastor, bringing fresh insight to our classrooms and encouragement to our students.
Dr. Davidson completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge, where he focused on divine names and titles in Deutero-Isaiah. His current research interests include examining names and titles for God in Isaiah and the use of Scripture in spiritual theology.
Over the years, he has taught widely across Canada in institutions such as Presbyterian College, Queen’s School of Religion, Toronto School of Theology, and Redeemer University. His courses have ranged from introductions to the Old Testament and Wisdom Literature to specialized studies in Amos and Job.
Alongside his academic work, Greg has also served as a pastor in Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, and other cities, and he currently the Lead Pastor at Blessings Christian Church in Hamilton. This unique combination of scholarship and pastoral ministry allows him to connect the Old Testament with the life of the church in ways that are both academically rigorous and deeply practical.
This year at MDC, Dr. Davidson is teaching Joshua in the fall semester and Preaching Difficult Biblical Texts in the winter semester. Both courses are being offered in person and via livestream, making them accessible to students locally and internationally.
We are excited about the scholarship, pastoral wisdom, and teaching gifts Dr. Davidson brings to McMaster Divinity College. His presence enriches our Old Testament and Hebrew Bible offerings and strengthens our commitment to equipping students for faithful ministry. Please join us in welcoming him to MDC.
