The Children’s Ministry Director will partner with the Pastor of Children’s Ministry in agreement with the statement of faith of the Canadian Baptist Church of Quebec to provide leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight in the spiritual formation of children between nursery and grade 6 and to support the overall ministry strategy in helping children and families grow in their faith and connection to Christ’s church.
The Children’s Ministry Director’s roles and responsibilities will include:

1. Preparing, teaching, and leading Sunday activities (Children’s Worship, Sunday school, and Nursery) and Friday Children’s Fellowship.
2. Working with the children’s pastor and the ministry team to execute church-wide events throughout the year, including but not limited to Vacation Bible Camp and Summer Conference.
3. Administering the plan to protect, maintaining the planning centre, developing policies and guidelines, scheduling volunteers, and other administrative tasks associated with children at North Toronto Chinese Baptist Church.
4. Working with the children’s pastors to recruit, train, encourage, supervise, and shepherd leaders, teachers, and workers in all aspects of children’s ministry.

5. Maintaining a positive atmosphere for all workers and participants involved in the children’s ministry program by setting a clear course, leading workers effectively, and dealing with conflict in a biblical manner.

Organizational relationships and supervision:
● The Children’s Ministry Director reports directly to the Pastor of Children’s Ministry.
● The Children’s Ministry Director will work as part of the staff to strategically fulfill the mission and vision of North Toronto Chinese Baptist Church.
● The Pastor of Children’s Ministry, in conjunction with other church leaders, will provide an annual evaluation of the Children’s Ministry Director’s performance.

Qualifications:
● A vibrant, mature, and growing walk with Jesus Christ.
● A profound, authentic affection for kids and a fervour for assisting them in gaining a personal relationship with Christ and advancing their spiritual development.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work well independently and across multiple teams.
● Fluency in English (both written and spoken) with a proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is an asset.
● Strong leadership and relational skills to assemble, instruct, oversee, encourage, and guide numerous groups.
● Strong desire to learn and grow and a willingness to accept new challenges.

Requirements:

1. The applicant should have as a minimum a bachelor’s degree from an Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accredited institution. A Master of Divinity (M. Div.) or its equivalent with a focus on children’s ministry or Christian education is preferred.
2. Canadian experience in children’s ministry.
