The Admissions Counsellor works with the admissions team to achieve recruitment and enrollment objectives by communicating with prospective students. The Admissions Counsellor is the first point of contact with most prospective students and will have the opportunity to see these students through the entirety of the admissions process. It is the Admissions Counsellor’s responsibility to represent MDC in a professional manner, actively recruit new students, offer guidance regarding program selection, and assist prospective students through the application process.

Reports to: Director of Admissions & Financial Aid


Responsibilities

Recruitment

  • Data entry of information from new inquiries
  • Respond in a timely and professional manner to new inquiries, answering questions by email and/or phone
  • Regularly follow up with prospective student by email and/or phone, following the communication flow set out by the Director of Admissions
  • Maintain contact list and reschedule future contacts with prospective students
  • Provide general customer service to prospective students
  • Represent MDC at recruitment events (some travel required)
  • Provide campus tours and assist with campus visits
  • Organize Preview Days with support of the Director of Admissions
  • Identify opportunities to promote MDC off campus

Admissions

  • Provide outstanding customer service to applicants, replying to emails and phone calls in a timely manner
  • Provide applicants with regular application updates
  • Prepare and process applications
  • Notify applicants of application decision and provide information for registration, etc.
  • Continue communication with prospective student until they have successfully enrolled
  • Assist with New Student Orientation
  • Assist with other projects as necessary

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required, graduate theological degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of administrative experience required
  • 1-2 years of recruiting experience preferred
  • Experience with database management an asset (experience with SalesForce preferred)
  • Valid drivers license and access to vehicle required
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Available to work some non-traditional hours (evenings and weekends)
  • Agreement with MDC’s Statement of Faith
