Welcome back to a new school year and welcome back to the NT guild! This year we are planning to talk about topics that would hopefully help us successfully “run” the PhD race. Our hope is to address some of the most common challenges we encounter during our time as students.
The topic for our first meeting will be “Pursuing a PhD as Exiles in a Foreign Land.” The idea of this meeting is to encourage and inform both our international and local students concerning the various challenges—social, legal-migratory, linguistic, educational, etc.—foreign students face when they come to study in Canada.
We have invited three of our own to be part for a panel discussion: Solomon Ayecheluhim (NT PhD candidate), Paulo Caproni (NT PhD student), Angeline Hu (OT PhD student). I am very confident that we will learn a lot from the experiences of Solomon, Paulo and Angeline. Please come prepare with lots of questions!
MDC’s New Testament (NT) Guild is a monthly meeting open to all faculty and students studying or interested in New Testament at MDC. The NT Guild gives everyone an opportunity to meet outside our regular curriculum to discuss various topics concerning being a good NT scholar. Topics include: NT studies, theological education, scholarship, job market and job application, professional developments, and many more. For more information contact Moises Zumaeta or Jihyung Kim.
