Worship Director (Job Posting)
KINGSWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Kingsway Baptist Church is looking for a Worship Director to organize and lead music worship for the Sunday services and other special occasions throughout the church year. The position is part-time; however, with the right qualifications, would be considered for a full-time role.
ACCOUNTABILITY
This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor (Senior Pastor). Annual Performance Reviews are conducted with a member of the Personnel Committee and the Lead Pastor.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

·      Collaborate and work closely with the Lead Pastor in prayerfully planning, selecting music and organizing inspiring Sunday morning services as well as special services upon request (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, Taste of the Kingsway, church-wide retreats, Alpha)
·      Facilitate Sunday morning services as the main Worship Leader
·      Conduct weekly practises with Worship Team in preparation for each Sunday service as well as periodic jam sessions to learn new music
·      Coordinate and communicate with worship teams for Sunday services including scheduling singers, musicians, and sound technicians, working with media person to ensure songs and lyrics are correct for the screen, providing appropriate music for the worship team in a timely fashion, ensuring compliance with CCLI licensing requirements for onsite and online worship services, and passing on all music information and announcements in sufficient time to be included in any weekly e-bulletins or other worship presentations and communication
·      Curate a broad knowledge of Christian music across multiple styles and cultures and generational tendencies, so that intentional introduction of songs and expansion of the musical repertoire can occur over time to enhance upcoming messages and the depth and breadth of worship
·      Manage the care and use of sheet music including controlling appropriate storage and use, encouraging good stewardship, ordering/purchasing/downloading new music when required
·      Manage the care and use of musical instruments and equipment including organizing repairs when needed (e.g. microphones), budgeting for and purchasing of new equipment, and arranging to have pianos and organ both normally tuned two times per year
·      Participate in life-long learning opportunities for ongoing training in music and worship

QUALIFICATIONS
·      Professed Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus and can work within the boundaries of the Statement of Ethical Pastoral Conduct of the CBOQ (located at https://baptist.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Statement-of-Ethical-Pastoral-Conduct-sign.pdf).
·       Skilled and knowledgeable musician (Bachelor of Music or equivalent experience). A minimum of two years’ experience leading worship preferred
·      Strengths as a vocalist and instrumentalist required and playing the organ would be an asset
·      Facility with church presentation platforms, sound and video systems, and social media an asset.

·      Able to work collaboratively with the Lead Pastor to select music for inspiring worship in a blended style that is shaped by the scripture reading, enhances the sermon and portrays the good news of the gospel effectively.
·      Able to cultivate and nurture the worship team through recruiting, mentoring, and training of vocalists, instrumentalists, sound and media team, etc.
·      Able to innovate, improve, and problem solve within the scope of the role.
·      Able to lead as a cooperative and collaborative team player and see others grow in their musical talents and relationship with Christ.
·      Able to draw from, play, and lead a wide range of musical styles, from Christian classics (hymns) to a range of current day worship repertoire

SALARY RANGE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a part-time position consisting of 20 hours per week. Depending on the talents, spiritual gifts and breadth of expertise of the applicant, a full-time position would be considered.
