MDC is delighted to welcome seven new research fellows for the 2025–2026 academic year. Beginning in September, these fellows will spend the year advancing their research in their respective fields:

John Hilber holds a BS in Geology from the University of Washington, a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Old Testament from the University of Cambridge. His research will focus on writing the Hosea contribution for the Commentary on the Use of the Old Testament in the Old Testament. In addition, he plans to record a course titled “Israelite Religion in Its Ancient Near Eastern Context” for Biblical eLearning, an educational website created by Dr. Ted Hildebrandt.

John Hobbins holds a BA from the University of Toronto, an LTh from the Waldensian Theological Seminary, and an MA in Hebrew and Semitic Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is currently a full-time researcher specializing in ancient Hebrew poetry. Hobbins is planning to complete several manuscripts, including a more extensive, book-length one.

James Libby holds a BS in Biophysics from the University of Illinois, an MDiv from Denver Seminary, and a PhD from McMaster Divinity College. Libby intends to focus mainly on biblical Greek linguistics, with a special emphasis on four areas: the exploration of linguistically informed computational stylistics; computational approaches to identifying fragmentary papyri and epigrapha using computational stichometry; theoretical research in Biblical Greek linguistics; and updating and publishing his dissertation.

Nathan Nadeau holds a BHSc from Ontario Tech University, an MTS from Toronto Baptist Seminary. He completed his PhD at McMaster Divinity College. Nathan is undertaking two projects, both already underway, in collaboration with Dr. Stanley Porter. The first is a co-authored commentary on the Book of Acts. The second project involves a co-authored edition and commentary on a collection of fragments from the late classical era, discovered at Oxyrhynchus and attributed to an author known collectively as the “Oxyrhynchus Historian.”

Robert Revington holds a BA in Religious, MA in History and MA in Religious Studies from McMaster University, and a PhD from Knox College. He plans to continue his current research on the history of biblical studies at Canadian universities and theological colleges, as well as begin writing a book.

In-Cheol Shin holds an MA in Biblical Studies from the University of Roehampton and a PhD from the University of Pretoria. He plans to complete a commentary on Philippians and also intends to study the Gospel of Matthew.

Ian Turner holds a BA in English from Elmhurst University, an MA in Linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University, an MDiv from Reformed Baptist Seminary, and a PhD in Biblical Studies (Old Testament) from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He plans to refine his linguistic analysis of Scripture and further integrate linguistics, intertextuality, and biblical theology. Turner aims to publish linguistically informed biblical research.

Dr. Ji Hoe Kim, Dr. Sung Min Park, Dr. Cynthia Tam, and Dr. David Yoon will also continue their ongoing research at MDC.

MDC is honoured to welcome these distinguished scholars and looks forward to the significant contributions their research will make to the broader Christian community. For more information about our Research Fellowship and to apply, please visit the link below.
