At the Convocation ceremony held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, McMaster Divinity College proudly conferred degrees and certificates upon 39 graduates.

MDC was pleased to host more than 250 faculty, staff, and guests, including distinguished academic guests: Dr. Beth Green, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Tyndale University; Craig Rumble, CBOQ President; and Ian Trigg, Central Canadian District Superintendent for the Canadian Missionary Alliance.

President Dr. Stanley E. Porter commenced the Convocation with a warm welcome, followed by a prayer from Associate Professor of New Testament, Dr. Cynthia Long Westfall. The music was led by Associate Professor of Music and Worship, Dr. Wendy Porter, and MDiv student, Ashley St. Pierre. Vice President Academic, Dr. James Dvorak, introduced each degree and its recipient, while graduands Seán Michael William McGuire and Yan Ma shared their experiences. MDC was honoured to bestow the Doctor of Divinity honoris causa posthumously upon Dr. Patricia Tyson Harvey and Dr. Paul Kevin Bates, recognizing their exceptional contributions to the development of MDC and their respective fields of expertise. The service concluded with a prayer of commissioning by Professor of Old Testament, Dr. Mark J. Boda. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Cullen Hall at McMaster Divinity College.

MDC invites you to remember these graduates in your prayers as they embark on their new journeys, following God’s guidance for their lives. Many of them will be working as pastors in the local Church, others in counselling, and some are beginning new teaching positions in Canada and as far as Germany!
